DERMAPEN MICRONEEDLING

ABOUT DERMAPEN MICRONEEDLING

When home skin care products aren't effective but you aren't ready for surgery, consider a nonsurgical skin rejuvenation treatment like microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy).

A dermapen has 12-36 microscopic needles that safely and effectively create micro-injuries to the dermis (second layer) of the skin. The micro-injuries trigger the body's natural production of collagen and elastin, two nutrients that enhance the health and appearance of your skin. When combined with other skin treatments like serums, microneedling can help reduce stretch marks, acne scars, sunspots and even wrinkles.

PROCEDURE TECHNIQUE

Depending on the area being treated, microneedling is performed in about 30 – 60 minutes. Prior to treatment a topical numbing cream is applied to ensure the procedure is comfortable. Once numb, the skin will be cleansed and the dermapen will be gently and evenly passed over the treatment areas to create the micro-injuries. During the microneedling treatment, a vitamin-infused serum is applied; the tiny holes created by the treatment allow for deeper penetration of the nutrients into the skin. When having a facial treatment a soothing mask will be applied to help reduce redness and puffiness and sooth irritation. Finally a moisturiser will be applied alongside sunscreen.

WHAT TO EXPECT

You may have some swelling and redness for about a day, but this should subside quickly on its own. It may take about 1 – 2 months before you see visible improvements in the health and appearance of your skin, as the collagen and elastin levels need time to increase. You should plan to get about 4 – 6 maintenance treatments every 4 – 6 weeks for optimal results and lasting skin health.
